Correlation between optical and γ-ray flux variations in BL Lacs

چکیده

ABSTRACT We report here results of the analysis correlated flux variations between optical and GeV γ-ray bands in three bright BL Lac objects, namely AO 0235+164, OJ 287, PKS 2155−304. This was based on about 10 yr data from Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope covering period 2008 August 8 2018 along with same period. For all sources, during flares analysed this work, are found to be closely correlated. From broad-band spectral energy distribution modelling different epochs these sources using one-zone leptonic emission model, we that optical–ultraviolet is dominated by synchrotron jet. The low peaked 0235+164 287 well fitted external Compton (EC) component, while high source 2155−304 self-Compton component. Further, note high-flux state (epochs A B) requires seed photons both dusty torus broad-line region, C D can modelled EC scattering infrared torus.

X-ray Selected BL Lacs and Blazars

With their rapid, violent variability and broad featureless continuum emission, blazars have puzzled astronomers for over two decades. Today blazars represent the only extragalactic objects detected in high-energy gamma-rays. Their spectral energy distributions (SEDs) are characteristically double-humped, with lower-energy emission originating as synchrotron radiation in a relativistically beam...

The Connection between BL Lacs and FSRQs

We discuss the features that mark the Flat Spectrum Radio Quasars from the BL Lacertae objects. We propose that FSRQs exceeding L ∼ 10 46 erg s −1 are powered by black hole accreting at rates ˙ m ∼ 1 ÷ 10; their power is dominated by the disk components, thermal and BZ. Instead, sources accreting at rates ˙ m ∼ 10 −2 ÷ 10 −3 radiate in the BL Lac mode; here the power is mainly non-thermal, and ...

Mev Synchrotron Bl Lacs

The recent BeppoSAX observations of the BL Lac objects Mkn 501 and 1ES 2344+514 have shown that the synchrotron spectrum of these objects peaks, in a ν–νFν representation, at energies at or above 100 keV. One can wonder if these are the most extreme examples of hard synchrotron blazars, or if they are the first cases of a more numerous class of sources. Here I propose the existence of a class o...

BeppoSAX Spectral Survey of soft X-ray selected BL Lacs

We present X-ray spectra obtained with BeppoSAX (Satellite per Astronomia X) of 10 BL Lac objects, selected from the Einstein Medium Sensitivity and Slew Surveys. We find that in about half of the objects a fit in the 0.1-10 keV range with a single power law and free absorption yields values of NH larger than the Galactic ones. In most of these cases, however, broken power law fits with NH fixe...

Chandra Observations of the X–ray Environment of BL Lacs

We present Chandra observations of the X–ray environment of a sample of 6 BL Lacertae objects. The improved sensitivity of the ACIS experiment allows us to separate the core X-ray emission from the contribution of diffuse emission from the host galaxy/cluster scales. Within the short (2–6 ks) ACIS exposures, we find evidence for diffuse X–ray emission in 3 sources (BL Lac, PKS 0548–322, and PKS...
